Principal's Message

At the outset I, Dr. Biswajit Biswas, Principal of this college welcome all the aspiring candidates seeking admission into this college, existing student and staff members of this college. I took over the charge as the Principal of this institution of Higher Learning on 13/07/2022 as due approval to my appointment was accorded by Director of Higher Education, Assam on 12/07/2022. Ofcourse, I discharged my duties as Principal in-charge from 01/07/2022 to 12/07/2022 and I took over the charge of the Office of the Principal i/c from the outgoing Principal i/c Smt. Anushila Chakravarty on 1st July, 2022. This institution came into being in the year 1960 and since then it has catered the need of higher education in this part of the region. Most of the people of this locality are usually poor, however at present they have endeavoured to send their children to college. At present the college has more than 3000 young boys and girls pursuing higher studies in Arts and Science streams. It has been our endeavour to train these young minds to be more and more competitive in this ever-changing world. Optimum emphasis has also been given to quality education besides providing access to higher education. COVID-19 has taught us the everlasting importance of Technology. Online classes were the sole medium for teaching-learning situation during that time.

One of the areas of my focus will be on the modernization of the College Library. It will completely be converted into a Digital Library and maximum access will be given to the students, so that they could prepare themselves for the college examinations as well as for the competitive exams. Nripendra Narayan Choudhury Reading Hall will be provided with modern amenities for imparting quality education among the students.

Bilasipara College has been preparing for NAAC 3rd Cycle visit by 2024 and for this the IQAC members and the faculty members have been doing their best for obtaining better grade in the said assessment and accreditation. A lot of things to be done in the coming 2(two) years for executing the suggestions put forth by the NAAC Peer Team during their last visit in 2019.

National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has been on the door steps of Higher Education. The Central Government has put maximum emphasis on its implementation and it is obviously a revolutionary initiative in the field of higher education. After about 34 years a noble endeavour has been made in order to provide an effective, pragmatic and quality education to the students of this country. In order to implement the same NEP Task Force has already been constituted in the college and they have been working incessantly in this direction. Recently IDP was submitted to this effect and works are on.

Last but not the least, discipline which I believe is the key to any educational institution and I have taken a pledge to maintain strict discipline in the college premise so that everything flourishes in a decent way.

Once again, I welcome all concerned to this Institution of Higher Learning and request all to extend alround co-operation in making this College a distinguished Centre of Higher Learning in the westernmost part of the state of Assam.
